I have an underactive Thyroid / Hypothyroidism -
How do I lose weight?
Have you skipped meals?
Does the Sofa become a sanctuary in the evening?
Tried restricted
diets?.. skipping meals?.....
Feel hungry at 11am and 4pm and surely one chocolaty snack won't
hurt?
The four
common obstacles dieters face when they try to lose weight are:
Loss
of good nutrition as a result of dieting
Loss
of energy
Low
metabolism resulting in slower weight loss
Cravings for snacks
Does counting points help
with the above?
Have you ever considered alternative ways to lose
weight?
Increasing nutrition intake, rather than
reduce it?
Controlling desire to snack?
Balancing your blood sugar level?
Looking at what your consuming not just
the calories?
Increasing protein intake (but a healthy
form of protein)?
Looking at your fluid intake and natural
water balance? (water and fizzy drinks).
Understanding the process of thermogenesis
/ boosting your metabolism?
Increasing energy levels? Changing your
eating habits gradually?
Understanding the process of thermogenesis
/ boosting your metabolism?
It is possible to lose weight with
an underactive thyroid - for example:
Nikki:
"I was always tired and needed to lose 3 1/2 stone and could never
get it off. I also have an under active thyroid and take Synthroid. I
have tried many things to lose weight and was never successful and
never had energy in trying. I started the plan 3 years ago and lost
2 1/2 stone in 3 months and have had energy all day long. I no longer
need naps and I can keep up with my 2 kids."
Where do
you start?
Consider two key issues:
Diet
Plan
You face the same issues as anyone wanting to lose weight. Quite
simply it is designing a diet which reduces calories without loss of
energy, prevent hunger as well as providing essential vitamins and
minerals.
Metabolism
But in particular you need to focus on your metabolism. When the
thyroid is underactive (hypothyroidism), it produces too little
thyroxine, producing symptoms such as extreme tiredness, an
intolerance to cold, mental drowsiness, weight gain (even with a
poor appetite), constipation, etc.
Hence as a first stage:
Try to boost your metabolism

Try to make certain you have the
right amount of protein in your diet
Try to get enough exercise
Specific Action you can take
Don't starve.
Dropping your calorie intake below 1,000 calories a day will signal to your
body that you are in starvation mode, especially with an underactive
thyroid, and will slow down your metabolism.
Eat smaller meals more frequently.
Smaller, more frequent meals keeps your blood sugar stable and provides a
steady source of energy to fuel metabolism.
Get enough aerobic exercise.
As much as you can is really a help for your metabolism, and if you do it in
the morning, you'll raise your metabolism all day.
Build muscle with weight training or resistance
exercise.
At least two to three times a week, you should add weight training or
progressive resistance exercise that builds muscle. Muscle burns more
calories than fat, and the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn,
even at rest! Maintain a healthy muscle mass to help
your metabolic rate
Water, water, water!!
You've heard it before, but drink those 8 8-ounce glasses of water every
day. The energy burning process of metabolism needs water
to work effectively.
Make sure you eat breakfast.
If you don't eat breakfast, you slow down your metabolism and send the body
into "hoard mode," thinking it's starving because you're going a long period
of time frequently 8 to 10 hours or more, without food.

1. Following a diet plan:
One option is to download a step by step weight loss plan,

2. Using Products :
The other way is to follow an easy
